The LUMIX LZ30--A Powerful 35x Optical Zoom Bridge Camera

The DMC-LZ30 features 25mm wide-angle lens with a 35x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 25-875mm). The Extra Optical Zoom function extends zoom power to 78.8x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the centre part of the 16-megapixel high resolution CCD to bring subjects even closer. Not only drawing near the subject distant away, the 25mm ultra wide-angle lens captures wider angle of view compared with a standard 35mm camera.

High Quality Pictures with 16-megapixel CCD Sensor

Panasonic's high resolution 16.1 megapixel imaging chip provides high quality pictures with the flexibility to print out large sized photographs or crop into parts of the image while still retaining a good pixel count.

Super Zoom 35x Optical Zoom Lens

One of the benefits of a bridge camera like the LZ30 is the wide choice of focal range on offer in a lens that is built-in to the camera. With a huge range of 25-875mm (equivalent), that means a zoom magnification of 35 times. So when you need to get close to the subject, but the subject can't come close to you, the LZ30 is perfect.

25mm (Equivalent) Wide-angle Lens

Of course sometimes you want to photograph wide vistas or just fit a large group of people into the shot. This is where the 25mm equivalent wide angle lens on board this camera comes into its own. Its wide angle of view allows more of your subject into the photograph, which is great for those times when you can't step back far enough to fit it all in.

Optical Image Stabilisation

Image stabilisation is essential when taking high zoom pictures without the use of a tripod. Optical stabilisation is better than the Electronic or Digital method as it counteracts the blur that normally occurs by hand holding the camera, but does not degrade the image. With O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilisation) pictures are sharp and blur free, giving you great pictures more of the time.

High Resolution 3.0 Inch (7.5cm) LCD with High Brightness Mode

A high resolution (460,000 pixels) Liquid Crystal Display is offered with a 3.0 inch viewing area that works well in bright light due to the Auto Brightness sensor that automatically increases brightness by up to 40% when in sunny conditions.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Shooting Mode

The art of taking interesting photographs is to have a camera that is ready to shoot when the moment arises. iA mode lets you take the picture without you having to worry about what settings to use. The camera intelligently works out the type of scene that you are trying to capture. Whether it is a picture of a person's face (using Auto Portrait mode), a dramatic landscape (using Auto Landscape mode), a close up of a beautiful flower (using Auto Macro mode) or a group of friends (using Auto Face Detection). All the most commonly used shooting scenarios are programmed in to the camera and the camera makes all the internal settings automatically, leaving you to just press the button.

Dedicated exposure button for getting creative with the shutter speed setting.

Manual Exposure Control

Digital cameras with any form of manual control normally come at the top-end of the range. The LZ30 however, offers a dedicated exposure button offering easy access to the shutter speed setting so that you can get creative with your photography.

The top mode dial offers more manual options.

Program & Full Manual Options Via Mode Dial

There are just some shooting situations where "Automatic" mode is not flexible enough. As you grow in confidence using the camera you will want to stretch the capabilities of the camera more and more. This is where the mode dial on the top side of the LZ30 easily allows you access to the flexible creative modes "Program" and "Manual". Program is a semi-automatic mode that lets the camera initially make the appropriate settings but lets you over ride them. Manual mode is exactly what it suggests, a mode that gives you full control over shutter and aperture.

A selection of creative filter effects can be selected before taking your shot.

Creative Filter Effects for Recording

To add an interesting new look to your photos any one of 10 creative filter effects can be selected before taking your shot: Expressive, Retro, High Key, Low Key, Sepia, High Dynamic, Dynamic Monochrome, Impressive Art, Cross Process and One-point Colour.

Creative Re-touch for Playback

Some of the creative filter effects that are available before taking your picture are also available to add to your shot after you have captured it. You can decide whether effects like Sepia, High Key or Dynamic Monochrome add an interesting new look to your shot, and apply the effect to the original picture after you have reviewed it.

Panorama shooting mode for wide sweeping panoramic still pictures.

Panorama Shooting Mode

Just select Panorama mode in the scene menu and position yourself to take a wide 180 degree panoramic photo. By holding down the shutter button while slowly swivelling your hips or turning around, a beautiful panoramic image can be made. The camera takes pictures consecutively while you turn. When the shooting ends, consecutively shot images are joined together to produce a single panoramic picture.

Multiple Scene Setting Auto Shooting Modes

Up to 18 pre-programmed scene modes can be offered (number varies depending on model) giving you the choice of a wide range of shooting scenarios. Just select the one that best describes the scene you are taking, and the camera makes the best settings automatically.

Recording at 1280 x 720 resolution means your video recordings look great when watched on a compatible HD TV.

HD Video with Motion Jpeg

Sometimes a still picture just doesn't tell the whole story, so it's great to have High Definition video recording available on board your camera. Recording at 1280 x 720 resolution means your video recordings look great when watched on a compatible HD TV or Computer.

AA Battery Powered for Convenience

The LZ30 offers the added convenience of running on the widely available "AA" sized batteries. Either rechargeable Ni-MH or regular alkaline batteries can be used. Despite being able to take up to 380 images* on one set of batteries, if you do run out of power, you are never far away from a replacement set.

*Recording conditions by CIPA standard.
